State of PCTI Under New Leadership

It's no secret PCTI needed an injection of life in the biggest way... In business, many top companies will say the worst thing for people's performance is complacency in the same job, and that was never more evident than the Fruit Man's lackluster job as Commish the last few years.

When the self-appointed People's Commish took over claiming high say high do solutions along with putting a premium on accountability, as much as I hate to admit it, he has delivered on his promise thus far as he took over a tired brand that badly needed some leadership and creativity.

In his first line of business after establishing a date that the prior commish took six months and wasn't able to do, he put his focus on personnel.  In addition to not being able to pick a date, the prior commish was not able to get a response from PCTI's first acquisition in three years, the man they call TP, TP immediately responded to the change in leadership by providing some candid thoughts on his on-court demeanor, pro's/con's, and a few wisecracks.  The fresh blood got the juices flowing and generated buzz around the group.

The People's Commish could have kicked back and relaxed knowing his work was done.  The roster/date was set, and he knew the weekend was in good hands with Scotty at the helm.

But he didn't stop there... He teased a surprise entrant on the heels of the Royal Rumble weekend, one which brought WWE COO and All-Time Great Triple H back after months off the camera.  What did the PC have up his sleeve?  What could he possibly have pulled off that anyone really cared about?

Love or hate him, it's no secret as much passion disappeared from PCTI as did the muscle off his body when Jeff Sabin quietly announced his retirement after a phantom injury keeping him out of 5, and a seminar out of 6.  The PC recognized the need to inject more life into PCTI, and what bigger splash than putting together a deal to bring back the most talked about player in the history of this great event?

PCTI's favorite villain is back... And he's bringing his 0-4 record, captainship of the worst team in PCTI history, and greatest single PCTI shooting performance along with him.  Will the years away shake him of the monkey on his back?  We will find out soon.

SABIN IS BACK

SABIN IS BACK SABIN IS BACK SABIN IS BACK SABIN IS BACK SABIN IS BACK SABIN IS BACK SABIN

The bottom line is this: PCTI hasn't been the same since he left. There's been a lot of speculation about why PCTI has lost its momentum the past two years, now we'll find out if its because the league's greatest villain was absent.

We expect to hear from Sabin on this blog later this week. In the meantime, adjust your DRAFT BOARDS accordingly.

Major Announcement coming SUNDAY

When I took over as commissioner on an interim basis, I promised to get the PCTI house in order. Sure enough, a few weeks later, we have our date set, we have our A/T and MVP (see previous post) and we have introduced our newest player. There's no question that PCTI is no longer leaking oil.

But here's the thing: I'm not the sort of guy who comes in, scoops up a failing company's stock, ousts the board and takes siege. That's just not me. Sure, I pretty much fixed two years of PCTI problems in a month but this is not what I do best. Anyone who knows me knows that first and foremost I am not a business man. What I am is equal parts dreamer, idea man and carnival barker. Think Steve Jobs, Steven Seagal and Steve Yzerman wrapped in to one.

Here's another thing: I'm not the sort of guy who is happy with just getting things back to the way they were. So while I have been out diligently working to return PCTI to its past glory, all the while I have imagined something greater. I knew to really do things MY way, I needed to make a splash and do something previously thought of as impossible.

Well guess what assholes....I've done it.

And not only have I done it, I went completely rogue to do it. Until this morning, nobody knew anything about it. Today, upon closing the deal, I broke my silence to tell the former commissioner about it.

His response - I kid you not - was this: "I haven't been this excited in my life since Madden was born."

MADDEN IS HIS CHILD, ASSHOLES.

For the rest of you, I've decided that I will give you the news THIS SUNDAY. I chose this Sunday because the Royal Rumble is this Sunday. And my announcement is the sort of thing that would really spice up a Royal Rumble.

THAT'S YOUR ONLY CLUE.

PCTI6 All-Tourney and MVP

The voting for PCTI IIIIII is in the books! Thanks to everyone for voting. PCTI 6 proved to be another lopsided victory with Team Wilson beating Team Spotlight 4 games to 1. The games were pretty close throughout, but in the end Team Wilson had more firepower and it reflected in the All-Tournament voting. Half the players in PCTI got a vote of some sort, so congrats to everyone that did. We also made some history which I will cover later. I will start off by sharing those that got votes but did not make the All-Tournament team:
The UNO Club:

Dan Fruit Stand 1 Vote Man
While Danielle did not put up huge numbers, he continued to be the steady team leader he has established throughout PCTI. Stand is always one of the best (if not THE best) defenders in PCTI. He led all players in steals. He also led all players in assists. Those are two areas that show you he is dedicated to helping his team win. Dan continues to get the respect from players in PCTI for his team first attitude and when he doesn’t he puts them in their place. Just ask Wes! Congrats to Fruit Stand for his 1 vote he received.

AHOP
Thanks to everyone who voted for me! It must have been the 0-12 performance from 3. Luckily I carried Team Wilson to a tournament win!
The Near Miss

Bambi
BC was the only person to garner more the 1 vote and not make the All-Tournament team. Bambi was one of the main reasons Team Spotlight were in the games towards the end. He put up 14.2 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game, including 20-10 and 18-16 in games 4 and 5. BC continually attacked the rim and created offense for his team. BC continues to create match-up problems for the opposing team as he can knock down outside shots, drive to the basket, or score in the post. While BC had a great tournament, for the second year in a row it wasn’t enough to get him to his 3rd career PCTI award.
The All-Tournament Players

Hollywood Thompson
Gunner Dawson was All-Tourney in PCTITWO and MVP in PCTI3. He is always in the discussion for All-Tournament, but has missed out the other years. Joe told our team with Abe, Ben, and Smo he knew we could score in multiple ways and wanted to focus on getting others involved and getting back to his old ways of playing tenacious D (shout out Jack Black and Kyle Gass). While he still got his shots and averaged over 13 points per game, he played great D and had a career high 9 blocks. Outside of the 9 blocks, his most impressive stat was 1 turnover all weekend. For the amount of time he handles the ball and attacks the rim that is incredible, reflected in his 10-to-1 A/TO ratio. Congrats to the Actor for his All-Tournament selection with 8 votes.

Osama Bin Wilson
Fresh off an MVP performance in FIVE, DJ Bin gathers 9 All-Tournament Votes to join the Doctor on the team. This is Wilson’s 4th post season award. Wilson gets a lot of love for his versatility on offense and takes some heat for his lack of D. He does well when he doesn’t have to focus on shutting anyone down on D and can shoot the gaps on D, which is exactly what he got to do this year. Bin also was in great shape which showed with his 14.4 PPG. Wilson shot the highest percentage all weekend with 47.5% which is awesome considering he took 59 shots. He was very consistent all weekend on both ends of the floor. Congrats JD!
The MVP

ABE

History has been made!! This is the first time in the history of PCTI that the MVP was unanimous! Does that mean that Abe voted for himself? Absolutely. Does anyone else deserve the nod, clearly not. Abe has been the most dominant player in PCTI proven by his accolades. The first four years here are his awards: AT, MVP, AT, MVP. Year 5 he fell apart in Denver but admitted he was not in a good place at the time. In PCTI6, he came back with a vengeance. He averaged 18.4 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 2.2 APG, and 1.2 SPG. Abe is a difficult guard for anyone due to his ability to shoot from outside but also his size and post moves. Some people thought he and Joe would not play well together, but they were on the same page all weekend and made it near impossible for Team Spotlight to stop them. Congrats to Abe on the unanimous MVP! It will be interesting to see how captains shake out now…
