Before I get started, let me clear up the tone of this. Most of what I write on here is tongue in cheek but in this case, I'm being serious. Not like angry serious, but the question I'm asking is legitimate.
Also, this isn't an attempt for me to goad Ben's Squad about what happened on the court in San Diego. I'm not trying to get you to say, "no mas" just so I can hear you say it. In fact, if you don't like this idea, you don't need to respond to it at all. Like the title says, I'm just putting it out there.
Anybody want to run it back?
I ask because of the obvious: you really can't discuss VIII without talking about the injuries and absences that the losing team had to battle through. Simply put, it would be nice to know how it would go down if you guys had Donley, a healthy Spot, and a healthier Ben.
I get that you guys might think that the result would have been totally different if you had the squad that was drafted. Right or wrong, I'd probably think the same thing if I was in your spot. Likewise, it's never fun to beat a team that is at anything less than their best. After the pummeling we gave you guys, I think we had one of the best PCTI squads of all time. But we'll have zero legacy considering we feasted on an undermanned team. I think if you put yourself in my shoes, you can understand how right or wrong I would think that.
I also get that despite those thoughts, you might have no interest in coming back next year with the same squads. I'm just saying, if there ever was a time to have a part two, this year would be a good candidate.
As a twist, what about giving us Smo and you guys adding an outsider to your squad? We need to add a player to the roster next year no matter the scenario, and this would be an interesting twist.
Any takers?
That question applies to both teams because I've not asked anyone on my squad their thoughts on this, either.
Great question, and one that should be discussed. In a way, I felt a little cheated out of getting the other team's best shot, given that Spot was injured, Don was absent, and Ben was cramped up in game 4. Clearly, this would have been a much more competitive series with those guys at something close to 100%.
ReplyDeleteI could support this idea, but will wait to see what the group thinks. Totally understand if the other team wants to move on with a new team next year.
