What the Numbers Say

Since many PCTI participants profess to be skilled in the fundamental basketball skills of shooting, passing, and defending, I thought I might let the statistics from PCTI III speak to the truth of this statement. Below is a list of selected categories that potentially could strengthen or damage the hypothesis that our group contains 16 well-schooled, fundamentally sound, high-IQ ballplayers:

Shooting:
8: Number of PCTI players who shot below 40%
4: Number of players who shot below 30%
11: Number of players who shot below 35% from 3
9: Number of players who shot below 25% from 3
12: Number of players who shot below 70% FTs
8: Number of players who shot below 50% FTs
4: Number of players who shot better than 50%
1: Number of players who shot better than 60%
4: Number of players who shot better than 40% from 3
3: Number of players who shot better than 50% from 3
3: Number of players who shot better than 80% from FTs
10: Number of players with at least 3 three-pointers attempted per game

Scoring:
1: Number of players who scored 30 in a single game
4: Number of players who scored at least 20 in a single game
6: Number of players who averaged 10+ PPG
3: Number of players who averaged 3 PPG or fewer
13: Number of players who scored double figures in at least one game
3: Number of players who did not score double figures in at least one game

Free Throws:
2: Number of players with no FT attempts (Smo, Spotlight)
3: Number of players with no FT makes (Smo, Spotlight, McKinney)

Floor Game:
1: Number of players with zero assists for the tournament (What’s up Bruise)
1: Number of players with zero turnovers for the tournament (My man Spotlight)
1: Number of players with no steals for the tournament (Godfather)
6: Number of players with zero blocks for the tournament
1: Number of players who averaged double figure boards (Esk)
7: Number of players who averaged at least 5 boards per game
5: Number of players who averaged at least 2 turnovers per game
8: Number of players who averaged at least 1 steal per game
0: Number of players who averaged at least 1 block per game
8: Number of players who averaged at least 2 assists per game
1: Number of players who averaged 4+ assists per game (Godfather)
1: Number of players who averaged at least 4 fouls per game (Smo)
2: Number of players who averaged at least 3 fouls per game (BC, Smo)

Notable:
1: Number of players who graded out with negative productivity (Sup Wes)
1: Number of players who almost joined him (My man BW)
1: Number of chiseled bodies at PCTI (Hops)
