PCTI was put on notice a month ago by ex-Commish turned ultra Brat DTB stating this year marks a turning point, and it was time to put yourself on the court regularly, or hang it up forever. The consensus was overly supportive of the vision and for the first time in a few years, all players seem to be on the same page.
On the heels of the State of the PCTI Union, it's now time to take action showing that basketball will return to, and stay as the main event... The first line of business was bolstering the roster, adding ultra athlete coming off a torn ACL in MT Powell.... Then the man they call Smo has a baby and McKinney a new dog, removing two guys from PCTI7 that play basketball almost as much B. Mac talks.
After re-signing Sabin, the end hasn't stopped there. Improving the speed of the game, athleticism, and overall competitiveness level will be an ongoing process, which leads us to adding our third new member of the PCTI family, the guy highlighted in the picture during his PCTI try-out, sporting a really cute hands in the pockets before basketball pose.
Name: Jeff Godon.
Age: 26.
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 100 lbs.
College: Gonzaga.
Hometown: Somewhere in Southern Cal.
Current City: Dallas, TX.
Industry: PRODUCE.
PCTI On Court Comparison: McKinney (in high school).
PCTI Off Court Comparison: Sabin (that drinks).
Pro's: Shifty and unorthodox makes him a match up nightmare. Extremely agile with great body control who crashes the offensive glass as hard as anyone. Active, high energy player that loves to play in space. Knock down shooter. Does not require the ball but is always involved. Good passer once teammates learn how to play with him. Extremely active defender who gets his hand on a lot of balls. Gets himself stuck in the air, but rarely turns it over. Has not reached his ceiling. Competitive. Good creator. Long arms.
Con's: Potential locker room cancer due to growing bad boy mentality. Handles losing poorly. Slow release on jump shot. Slow laterally and does not like interior defense despite spending a lot of time in the paint. Does a good job of avoiding contact and has improved his willingness to mix it up, but not a strength.
Overall: Adding Godon PCTI's roster will be like a blue chip stock that pays dividends. This guy spent an entire night last year watching every PCTI6 game with the Brat and I, and couldn't have been more interested. His love for the game, travel, PCTI, and overall lack of anything else enjoyable in his life will have him a part of PCTI until the doors close in 2025. This guy is everything McKinney was supposed to be, a high energy, unconventional player who killed teams when they were tired, and who everyone hated to guard because his game was so different. The main storyline will be how he is received, as he's similar to Sabin in that he's the nicest guy in the world yet everyone considers him a villain.
Ben Wilson..... Still on the clock.
HERE WE GO BABY!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan. Appreciate the invite, don't appreciate the laterally slow comment. Given it came from you who struggles to move in any direction on the court, I'll let it ride. Glad to be on board.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone deserves to critique lateral quickness it's me.
