Wilson Island

This is no coincidence...

Looks like we've found our new stopper.

Let's Take a Trip to the Clubs on the Northside...

This year will finally feature some warm-up tunes, as I will be bringing my wireless speakers and the playlist that was supposed to come out during III.  I'm not making ANY changes to it, simply due to the fact that it was able to make DK squeal in delight in his hotel bed in ways I've never seen before.  In fact, I'm blaming the III sweep on the lack of warm-up tunes.

In summary, don't worry about anything...I GOT THIS.

PS- I have it on good authority that a certain song on this playlist is guaranteed to net my team 50+ points and a W from two of my esteemed teammates, so I will use this information accordingly.  It'll be our secret weapon that we don't need...it's basically like acquiring the Spray gun in Contra.  Simply awesome/unfair.

PCTI4 Checklist

In an effort to simplify things, I am going to take the checklist I wrote up for PCTI3, and edit as I see fitting.

Must Have's:

1. Basketball Shoes (TLFK might forget these in favor of their hand wraps for deadlifts).
2. THREE pairs of basketball shorts.
3. FOUR undershirts/wifebeaters/etc.
4. FOUR pairs of socks.
5. FOUR pairs of boxer briefs, boxers, etc.
6. If hell has frozen over and you can't Pay Pal, bring two checks and a damn good excuse... This is up in the air as what McKinney's preferred method of payment is.
7. Jeans, collered shirts and a decent pair of shoes.
8. Jersey (This wouldn't be a legit checklist if I didn't state the obvious)... I felt like I should bump this up to #1 after Abe's showcase last year, but instead I chose to bold it.

We will be doing laundry for shorts and jerseys after Sessions 1, 2 and 3. We are not doing the rest to avoid mixups and overloads of laundry. The Dallas Scottsdale area is very into dress code (Annoying I know), so although you don't have to look metro, avoid wearing tennis shoes, sandals, etc. out to the bars.

Optional Stuff That Could Be Useful:

1. Extra set of laces. Don't discount the importance of this.
2. iPod Station.
3. Muscle recovery stuff.
4. Powder or THE GLIDE (Look it up).
5. Laundry Bag.

I've gone on record promoting the extra set of laces, and anticipate this to be a problem at some point in PCTI. When it is, expect me to go into self promotion, I-told-you-so mode like you've never seen before like you saw when people griped over $5 orange juices last year. This is something that our PCTI trainer will be in charge of 15 years from now, but for now it's our responsiblity. The rooms I'm sure have docking stations, but just in case, it's always nice to have. They tell me that iPhone's have decent speakers, but I wouldn't know anything about that. I'm not sure if muscle recovery stuff actually works, but if any of you think they do, this is the time and place to utilize it. I can't help but to wonder where I would be without the help of powder through all my days of hoops. The Glide is something new that you rub between your legs and prevents any jock itch/burn from happening.

PCTI4 Social Scene Predictions

I would dub PCTI3 the breakout year for the entire league.  Hold Abe, it's safe to say everyone had a Bryan McKinney type year on the social scene, putting their head down and performing at such a high level that they would have made Team Legs Feed the Kitten look bad on the basketball court.  It's going to be a big time challenge for a lot of the guys to duplicate their PCTI3 performances, so expect for PCTI4 to be a good barometer for separating the boys from the men.

Let's take a look at how I see some guys trending given the performance I expect from them.

Skillz: Trending Up

His quiet cool guy approach will be well received by the Scottsdale female population (which would make them the same as every other cities population), which in turn will lead to him showcasing his beer holding form more frequently.  Also, Arizona hot weather=Skillz calves on display early and often.

Actor: Trending WAY Down

Everything went right for the Actor last year.  Hand holding, handies by the water, and a girl telling him how funny he is equals a perfect weekend.  Add an on court MVP to the mix, and you would think Act might have actually forgotten he was in small time, slow paced Plano and not in the hustlin and bustlin big city life he is used to.

Fil-A: Plummeting

This has nothing to do with Fil's offseason and everything to do with the fact that he doesn't stand a chance to perform at the level he did last season.  Setting the tone by walking in to a thunderous Thursday night roar, he took the love and ran with it.  When you thought he was at an all time high after dropping his cigar knowledge, he sticks it to a cop by hiding his beer during his five second walk, goes back and gets it, and earns himself an MIP.  Good luck topping that.

The Brat: Neutral

If you want to see consistent, go on a few weekend trips with The Brat and you will see what I mean. The things you can count on is all night dark beer drinking, emotional talks, a toast, and one snap out that will be laughed about throughout the weekend. It's like clock work.. And frankly, fantastic.

Smo: Neutral

To balance my personal vacation inconsistencies out, it's important to roll with guys like Smo and Brat my whole life to pick me up.  Like the Brat, Smo has a few go-to moves that you can always count on, and I promise you will see all put on display in a little over a week.  Those moves consist of going on a hunger strike, blacking out because he has no food in his system, being the first one up after blacking out and energized like he was fresh off 8 hours of great sleep, and taking jabs at the Brat that are so good even Brat himself enjoys it.

Stickman: Trending Down

Call me crazy but I have to question if married, skinny boy Stickman can still bring it the way he used to.  As we all get older we tend to lose a step, but the Bruise is a guy that no one actually believes will do so... Except me.  Gone are the days of beer drinking party pics and in are the Saturday morning long distance jogs with "the wifey."  Don't expect much outside of an occasional scolding when he sees someone drinking out of a straw.

Rivalry Watch

The thing I have really enjoyed about this offseason is that both teams are keeping their hatred for each other quiet.  After what happened in PCTI3, everyone is afraid to speak out about winning, losing, or more importantly-who they hate.

Let's take a quick look at some key rivalries for 4, and how I see them playing out.

5. Danie Krow vs. Mikael Beasley

Teammates and lifelong acquaintances, these two have been at each others throat ever since he and  Spotlight started gushing over how ugly the other was last year at the pool.  I envision this being a Kobe/Shaq like situation where the only way to overcome the power struggle of strong personalities is by letting one of them go.  Rumor out of Dallas is that Danie has been pushing Coach Skillz hard to make a culture change, sending the flamboyant Beas for the gritty Bruiser, and I expect him to get his way.

4. Stickman Van Horne vs. His Teammates

A quiet offseason from the Stickman has everyone wondering where he stands going into 4.  Rumors have been swirling within the ranks that his teammates are concerned about where his heads at, and if his offseason filled with wedding glitz and glamor has made him lose focus after being (as recently as last year) one of the golden boys of PCTI.  His volatile relationship with his teammates is not a concern for me, and I'm glad to hear the relationship is severed (whatever severed means).

3. Ben Wilson vs. Himself

In an effort to establish himself as the most happy go lucky off the court/angry and miserable on court PCTI personality, Wilson is going to be in a battle against himself all weekend.  His quiet, lifelong rivalry with the referees in every city he has ever played in make me question whether it's them, or if they recognize the same personality disorder from Wilson that I've been preaching for years.

2. Bash Brothers vs. Quad Pod

New vs. the Old.  The Bash Brothers are PCTI's latest up and coming stable looking to make a name for themselves in PCTI4.  I see this playing out the same way the nWo came in and took over the WCW, frequently pushing the 4-Horseman around like the child's play that they were.  The nail chewing personality of the Bash Brothers will most surely punish the diva-like, dying QP group into submission.  I say QP is dead by Thursday after Ben Goldberg delivers the knockout punch.

1. ACTOR VS. THE EDUCATED

There has not been, and maybe never will be a bigger storyline in the history of PCTI than the final two original undefeated records going head to head.  As if this volatile relationship dating back to high school didn't have enough built up hatred already, giving these two the opportunity to play against each other for the most important accolade in PCTI history is what rivalries were made of.  The Actor is currently the record holder for punches thrown in PCTI, and I fully expect him to double down in 4 if things are going too well for Stephen.  I would actually dub this a "Retirement Match," stating that if Abe's squad wins, PCTI finally gets the opportunity to force the Actor into retirement.
