A Post on Productivity

The NBA publishes on its Web site all the basic statistics recorded officially by the league. Individual player efficiency is expressed there by a stat referred to as 'efficiency' and abbreviated EFF. Of course, in PCTI we refer to it with the beloved and much-debated moniker “productivity” that some love and some loathe. It is derived by the simple formula [((PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK - FG missed - FT missed - TO))/G]. Here is the current list of NBA Efficiency Leaders (EFF).

I thought it might be fun to extrapolate this metric to PCTI since the event is nigh upon us and also since there has been some debate about individual players’ values during the draft. Here is the list of individual player productivity from career PCTI statistics. Enjoy.

  2. The productivity metric is only right if it makes me look good. This is bogus.
